What they are saying about Valiant Volunteers: |
Excellent Historical Fiction, June 3, 2006 This is a great book that interweaves the lives of actual historical characters with 2 fictional heroes. The author really ties together the lives of Americans helping fight WWI before the US entered the war. It is well researched. A Shilkitus (TX) |
A great war-time read, February 22, 2006 Filled with real characters both honest and treacherous, the confusion of trench fighting, realistic flying episodes, war-time politics and even a bit of romance. Couldn't put it down. I can't wait for Johnson's next volume. What happens to Charlie? John H. Moran "Jack Moran" Poquoson, VA |
JOHNSON IS AN EXCELLENT STORYTELLER Posted September 29, 2008, 1:43 AM EST: I remember reading the john jakes first book of the kent family, 'the bastard' and it left me craving more...Johnson has done the same thing with 'valiant volunteers'. I read it once and just recently read it again and am anxiously awaiting the next installment. Anonymous |
